It is with deep sadness that we share the news of a fatal accident at the construction site of UPM’s Paso de los Toros pulp mill in Uruguay. The construction worker was performing a task and fell from a height in the morning of November 23, 2022. Emergency services were dispatched immediately to the scene of the accident, where unfortunately the death was confirmed.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the worker. Out of respect, the works at the construction site were suspended yesterday.
UPM is cooperating with the authorities who are conducting the investigation on the causes and circumstances of the accident.
